2021 Appreciation Awards for EUU’s amazing volunteers!

At the November 2021 AGM, Karen Kyker announced the volunteer appreciation awards for 2021. Thanks to president-emeritus Carolyn Burlingame-Goff for starting this lovely tradition.

Founder’s Award

To Gevene Hertz, for the too-many-to-name jobs she has done for so long: Unifier, Website, Facebook Page, Online Groups such as Morning Drop-In, Mailing List maintenance, weekly Joys and Concerns poems, President… Gevene keeps us in-the-know and reminds us of what we’ve forgotten. Thanks as ever, Gevene!

All for One, and One for All Award

To Matt Gilsenan and Shellie Holubek, for stepping up and putting together the wonderful fall “Co-created Retreat-ish Event,” with great daring and creativity in face of numerous challenges, and despite the simultaneous need to spend time and energy with family outside of Europe. Thank you for your willing energy, Shellie and Matt!

Consider It Done Award

To Shulamit Levine-Helleman, who has raised the business of the At Large group to a new standard, worked on every virtual retreat to date, who keeps all the Zoom stuff in order, actively takes part in the CC, and has raised much-needed awareness of the vital issues of inclusion and accessibility in our organization. We are a stronger association for all of this – thank you, Shulamit!

Unsung Heroes Award(s)

To Terri Michos, for leading our Social Action efforts for numerous years and for creatively seeking new ways to engage fellowships in EUU social action, particularly while putting much energy into her own family’s needs and traveling often across the ocean.
To Peter Jarrett, for almost single-handedly steering the spring retreat into being and for his long and faithful work as Pledge Drive Coordinator and on the Nominating Committee.

Into the Breech Award

To Tony Zamparutti, for stepping into the role of president more times than we can remember and often at short notice, and for his ever calm and positive execution of his many duties.
