LOCATION CHANGE for this SATURDAY JULY 6 Midsummer Celebration in Amsterdam!

IMPORTANT NOTICE re LOCATION CHANGE for this SATURDAY JULY 6 in the PARK!

Because of the many issues in the Amsterdamse Bos with the oak processionary caterpillar we have decided to move the Midsummer Celebration to the FLEVOPARK. This can easily be reached from Amsterdam Central Station with tramline 14. Tramline 3 is also an option. The stop is called Flevopark.

We will be gathering at the North Entrance of the FLEVOPARK, straight across from the tram stop. Gathering will be at 13:45 and at 14:00 we will walk together from the entrance to the ceremony location, so please be on time so you don’t get left behind! If you have issues with walking 5-10 minutes or any questions, please contact us at president@nuuf.nl or v-p@nuuf.nl

***************************

Midsummer is already here which means it’s almost time for our (slightly late, i.e., Unitarian time) summer solstice ceremony led by Druid Taco Ijzerman and Tina Tomlow of the NUUF Women’s group. We hope you are joining us for the weekend of July 6–7 in Amsterdam.

On Saturday July 6 at 14:00 in the Amsterdam Woods, or ‘Amsterdamse Bos’, we will celebrate Midsummer. We will gather at the ‘Boswinkel’ which is by the main entrance of the park and the parking lot. This is about 40 minutes by public transport from Amsterdam Central Station.

[For GPS use: Bosbaanweg 5, 1182 DA Amstelveen, Netherlands. You can use the following google map to get directions from your location and for your preferred method of transportation: https://goo.gl/maps/XjPbty8yHT6kNBik6 ]

At 14:00 we will walk together from the Boswinkel to the ceremony location, so please be on time so you don’t get left behind! If you have issues with walking 5-10 minutes, please contact us ahead of time.

Following the ceremony will be ‘bardic space‘, a half-hour of music, poetry and stories inspired by the season. If you would like to contribute (max. 5 minutes), sign-up with an email to president@nuuf.nl. After this will be a potluck picnic until 18:00. If you are able to bring something simple to share, and your own drinks, this would be appreciated, but since many of you are traveling far don’t worry about this if it is inconvenient.

In the evening (20:00-23:00) there will be an informal social gathering with games, drinks and snacks at the house of NUUF President Albert Manders, Lange Niezel 25-2, a 5 minute walk from Central Station.

On Sunday, before heading home, we hope you will join our ‘pilgrimage’, an informative walking tour of liberal religious historical sites of Amsterdam led by our very own Derek Suchard. We will gather at 10:00 at a location near Central Station, walk together about 6 km and finish around 13:30 near the Rijksmuseum, where it will be possible to have lunch together. There is limited space so if you would like to join, RSVP to president@nuuf.nl and you will receive info on the meeting point.

For all questions about the weekend and if you are interested in housing with NUUF members and have not already RSVP’d then please send an email immediately to president@nuuf.nl.
