The Heart of our Faith: Healing Ourselves and our World

Now for a sneak peek at our activities!

We are privileged to have Rev. Thandeka be our theme speaker. Through her interactive theme talk, her Sunday sermon, and her Liturgy Workshop Rev. Thandeka will help us explore our theme The Heart of Our Faith: Healing Ourselves and Our World. Through her program of Love Beyond Belief we will together explore the answers to these timeless and timely questions.

Labyrinth

John and Elizabeth are visiting and bringing the light of their labyrinth! John is a long-time labyrinth enthusiast and as a special treat for us he will be building it on Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday the contemplative labyrinth will also serve as a quiet room as it promotes peace and rest.

Workshops to explore the theme of healing ourselves and our world

  • Derek Suchard is leading a workshop called Zoroastrianism – the Hidden Source of UU where he will draw a line from the first philosopher, Zoroaster, to the UUs of today.
  • Teresa Zink will teach us Spiritual Eating – healing ourselves from the inside out.
  • There will be workshops on how writing serves to heal as well: Bledion Vladi and his colleague will discuss how individuals can change their communities, and how writing one’s story is powerfully healing. Steve Crowley will teach us how to heal with poetry.

Religious Exploration – Cara Burmedi leads the RE team to provide a fun program exploring the theme in an age-appropriate way. On Saturday evening the children put on a performance for us showing what they learned.

Saturday night is party night! After the RE show, we have the Variety Show where anyone who wants to can share their unique talents with us; it’s always a good time! Then it’s free time for bonding with new and old friends.

Sunday Service wraps up the official weekend as enter our sacred space with Rev. Thandeka once again.

EUU will also hold our Annual General Meeting (where members will elect officers for 2020) and the Coordinating Council Meeting during this weekend: all are welcome to either meeting.
