Reasons for Hope
Lay-led by Karin Cudd, inspired by the Rev. Dr. William F. Schulz
January is typically the time of year when we look forward with optimism. But the pandemic, increasing poverty, decreasing democracy, the climate crisis and more personal challenges are leaving many of us feeling anything but optimistic.
This is why we’re sharing the Rev. Dr. William F. Schulz’s memorable keynote address at the first European Unitarians Together retreat, “Faith Without Borders”, held in Ulm, Germany in June 2017. Although nearly five years old, the messages contained therein are as relevant today as they were then, if not more so. Who isn’t looking for more reasons for hope?
Meet the Inspiration
Rev. Dr. Schulz is President Emeritus, Unitarian Universalist Service Committee; Professor of Preaching and Public Ethics, Meadville Lombard Theological School; and Senior Fellow, Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. A former President of the Unitarian Universalist Association, he served as Executive Director of Amnesty International USA from 1994 to 2006. UUFP may not be able to welcome visiting ministers at the moment, but Bill will be with us in spirit. We are grateful for his kind authorization to abridge his address.
Hybrid Services – In Person + Online
We will be starting hybrid services which means we will welcome you in person at
La Maison Verte: 127 Rue Marcadet
and will be live-streaming the services via Zoom for those who cannot come or chose not to come to the service at LMV.
Masks and hand gel will be required, and we will practice social distancing.
There will be no food or drink allowed in the room, but people are welcome to stay and talk after the service then go to a café or restaurant.
We also thank you in advance for your patience as we embark upon this new type of service. Our objective is to provide a hybrid solution that everyone will enjoy.
How can I access the service online?
