Sermon: Tend This Flame

I was born to tend this flame / Ancestors danced and sang / what seeds now must I sow? / Oh, my love it’s time to know

In the fall a song came to Christopher, a simple melody. As he picked up his banjo and sang, this spark became a flame. There is a powerful shift already under way, a call to remember ourselves and find a place of balance within our larger world. Combining ecological consciousness with generational reverence and somatic healing with justice work, Tend This Flame invites us into a story both urgent and measured. How do we cultivate the kind of communal resilience needed in these times?

MEET OUR MINISTER

The Rev. Christopher Watkins Lamb

Nature, music and beloved community inform Rev. Christopher Lamb’s call to ministry. A lifelong UU from Knoxville, Tennessee, he brings his experience in UU camps and conferences, hospital and university chaplaincy, and worship-crafting to bear in his work as Music Lead at Foothills Unitarian Church and his leadership within Unitarian Universalism. Christopher earned a Masters of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology in 2017, and a BA in French from Middle Tennessee State University. He enjoys spending time outdoors, being with his two daughters, his band Crispy Watkins & the Crack Willows, and his emerging entrepreneurial ministry.
