On November 25, the International Convocation of UU Women (IWC) is hosting a webinar addressing gender-based violence in collaboration with Seng Kynthei, the Women’s Wing of the Unitarian Union of North East India. This ties into the United Nations marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. Orange is a hopeful color, symbolic of a brighter future, so wear orange that day and spread the word on your social media. November 25 is also the start of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, ending on Human Rights Day. Violence against women is often called the shadow pandemic, which has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 crisis.

The webinar will explore Seng Kynthei’s programs on violence against women and girls, which create opportunities for education, advocacy, dialogue, and collective action. It will start at 15:30 CET. If you would like to participate, please email admin@icuuw.com and you will be sent the zoom link before the event. For some examples of projects raising awareness of domestic violence, check out the IWC’s work.

In addition, a live webcast of the UN commemoration will be available on the UN Women’s website and on UN Web TV and will take place at 16:00–17:30 CET (10–11:30 EST).

To participate in the social media campaign, “orange” your social media and follow the online conversation using the hashtags #orangetheworld and #16days, and follow @SayNO_UNiTE and @UN_Women on Twitter.
