The EUU Affiliated Ministers program is detailed in Section 11 of the EUU Policy Manual. This section defines what an Affiliated Minister is, describes their privileges and responsibilities, outlines the vetting process for requests for affiliation, and states the purpose: “To create an official process for Unitarian Universalists, Unitarian, and Universalist ministers to affiliate with the EUU.”
This program is designed to help the EUU and the public find guest ministers for individual services and events, to serve as motivational or keynote speakers or consultants, and to perform traditional ministerial functions such as weddings and funerals. It will also serve to identify candidates for groups seeking a settled minister, to support graduates of ministerial training programs, and to promote the representation of EUU principles and ideas. It offers an opportunity to advance EUU’s visibility and strengthen connections with the public and other Unitarian Universalist, Unitarian, and Universalist organizations, ministers, and individuals.
Although it was created in 2019, the Affiliated Ministers program has not yet been implemented. The Coordinating Council recently approved a few changes to Section 11 and will soon be appointing a team of three to oversee requests for affiliation. If you are interested in helping to implement this program or serving on the team overseeing requests for affiliation, please contact secretary@europeanuu.org.
