Follow Up to a Historic Service September 9, 2018 – KUUF Welcoming Sunday for our first ordained UU Minister, Rev. Greg Dubow

It was a glorious Sunday afternoon and a glorious Sunday Service. Rev. Greg Dubow led service and delivered a terrific sermon on Home and Homecoming, which included a re-examination of the story of “The Prodigal Son”. After service, twenty-two of us gathered in the Meeting House. Plenty of good food and great conversations sparked a renewal of old friendships and a forging of new friendships.

So in last week’s announcement, I was hesitant to say how long the Kaiserslautern Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship has been in existence. I have had one former congregant tell me that is was formed in 1948, making KUUF 70 years old. I don’t know if I can verify that, but I’m willing to accept that (or suspend my disbelief) long enough to say this Fellowship has been around for a long time and we are carrying a torch that has been handed down to us from many generations before us. All of which is to say, that the fact that we welcomed the first ordained UU Minister into our Fellowship is a very BIG DEAL.

Thank you to all who made this day special. Thank you to those in attendance. Thank you to those who couldn’t make it but were there in spirit. And, thank you to the many that came before us. We are all part of a tradition and Fellowship, which provides, family, friendship, and love to those of us who live here, and to the those of us who are far away from home.

This is our Spiritual Community.
