President Bonnie Friedmann
Bonnie Friedmann found Unitarian Universalism in 2002, when she moved to San Diego and wanted to find a religious community for her infant son without the baggage she grew up with.
She joined First Church San Diego in 2004 and remained active there until moving to Germany in 2012. She found EUU in 2013 and joined the UURM (formerly Wiesbaden) fellowship, which she represented on the CC until 2016, when she became secretary of EUU.
Bonnie is also a member of CLF and writes to a pen-pal as part of their prison ministry. Her main activist/religious concerns are working to stop climate change, especially as it intersects with racial justice,, as she tries to help the world by living her UU values with joy.
Bonnie was elected president for 2025, and looks forward to continuing to serve EUU in this capacity.
Vice President Cappy Schupp
This is my first year officially in the EUU as a member, after attending several retreats and more than a few years in Rhein-Main (formerly Wiesbaden) Unitarian Universalists. In 2014
I joined UU in Wiesbaden with my daughters (now 14 and 11) after years of church shopping in Germany for a congregation that was liberal, open minded, with a shared set of values that I grew up with (New England Congregational Church in the Midwest, outside Chicago). Like many, I was drawn in by John Keating and Elizabeth Malone’s welcoming friendship and warmed by the surrounding community.
I work as a teacher at an international school as a jack of all trades (English as second language, Middle School Literature, previously middle school band teacher and 5th grade teacher). As the EUU vice president, my goal is to become familiar with the systems in place and help facilitate open discussions with all members. I will also become more familiar with the membership process and maintaining those systems.

Secretary Susan Loy
I have been a Unitarian Universalist for forty years at the UU church in Roanoke, Virginia, and for the past nearly seven years at the International Unitarian Church of Prague. I moved to Prague in April 2018, sponsored by the Czech Unitarian church, to create artwork to commemorate Norbert Čapek’s flower communion.
I am a professional artist and writer and founded my art business, Literary Calligraphy, in the early 1980s. You can learn more about me on Wikipedia under Susan Loy, American artist. As EUU secretary, my goals are to keep accurate records, file timely reports and communications, and assist the other officers.
Treasurer Shulamit Levine-Helleman
I have been involved in EUU since helping NUUF (Netherlands UU Fellowship) plan my first retreat in 2012. After a few years as a active NUUF members, Alinda and I left NUUF and became at-large members of the EUU. From 2015-2017, I helped lead a sermon discussion group online, as an active at-large member. From 2019-2024, I was the representative of At-Large members to the CC. I expanded the role of representative and facilitated an online monthly gathering, currently called ALIOSC, the At-Large Informal Online Spiritual Community. I intend to continue with ALIOSC, though I hope to find volunteers to handle the organization.
Now I face a new challenge as the incoming Treasurer of EUU. My goals as treasurer are to keep accurate records and keep the books up-to-date and balanced, along with paying our obligations on time. When I am not volunteering for EUU, I volunteer for a local Jewish group (Chavurah), I help people through a local organization with administrative tasks such as dealing with bureaucracy, and I spend time with my wife and two young cats.
