Summary of EUU Annual General Meeting for 2024 on Sunday, November 17

by Marcie McGaughey

We held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) as a Zoom meeting and had about 32 members attending.

President Karen Kyker welcomed us and then started the meeting.

The first major item on the agenda was voting for new officers. The nominating committee, Matt Gilsenan and Peter Jarrett, found us a good slate to vote on:  Bonnie Friedman as President, Cappy Schupp as Vice-President, Susan Loy as Secretary, and Shulamit Levine-Helleman as Treasurer. All were enthusiastically voted in, so congratulations are in order.

Financially we are doing well, having enough funds to pay for retreats, and have some in reserve. Jutta suggested we use some surplus to beef up our hybrid-tech, grant fund, subsidy for youth, and social action. Because of ever-increasing travel expenses, we will add to the fund for our Transylvanian exchange program. But don’t sit back and relax – keep those pledges coming!

The Social Action Committee, led by Peter Jarrett and Tina Huesing, can look back on several wonderful projects running and donations made to worthy causes. A big thank you to the Social Action committee, which has now been added to our by-laws as a standing committee.

EUUs official mailing address has changed from Dorcy’s to Karen Kyker’s.

The “Safe Community” committee now has a new guideline document for us, and their next step is to agree on how to deal with people who don’t follow the guidelines.

Cappy Schupp will be organizing and hosting this year’s winter solstice gathering on Dec. 14.

Our resident techies – those who run zoom meetings and hybrid services – need new tech people. Both Shulamit and Gevene are happy to train people to use zoom and host meetings.

We also need techies on site at retreats to manage cameras and sound systems.

We have a retreat to look forward to this spring, but so far we don’t have enough volunteers lined up for a fall retreat committee.*

As always, EUU is looking for YOU to volunteer your skills: for various committees, projects, and future retreats. EUU is YOU!

*Note from editor: We now have volunteers to lead the committee for Fall 2025, but they will need many more people to help with various tasks, both big and small.
