by Marcie McGaughey

On Sunday, May 9, David Dawson of the Unitarian Music Society (UMS) passed away. Many will remember him from the UMS visit to our Köln retreat and also the EUT gathering in Berlin. David was a key figure in Unitarian music in Britain, having composed many anthems and hymns and  directed choirs and ensembles. He was a fine pianist, violinist, and recorder player. He had also composed a short opera which was to be premiered this summer at the annual UMS music weekend. He will be greatly missed.

Editor’s note – David Dawson was also a former President (2006-7) of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches (United Kingdom)
